Semi-Precious Stones

"Semi-Precious" often refers to minerals like agates, quartz crystals, gems, and even fossils like petrified wood and ammonites. These stone slabs take materials often used for jewelry, and make them into the ultimate statement piece for a residential or commercial space. There truly is nothing else like it in the market. As Semi-Precious stone can vary in its composition and suspension material, the care instructions will vary accordingly. The care instructions will change depending on whether a resin or man-made quartz was used as a suspension material. Furthermore, care will differ for petrified wood as opposed to gemstones. 

Like most stone varieties, Semi-Precious stones should be sealed upon installation and subsequently sealed on a 6 month to yearly basis, depending on frequency of ware on the surface. General care consists of avoiding acidic cleaners such as vinegar, as well as contact with acidic foods (such as fruit and tomatoes). Using warm soapy water and/or a designated stone cleaner, in combination with a microfiber or polishing cloth will ensure your stone stays clean and scratch avoidant. When cooking, place any hot pots and pans on trivets to avoid heat damage, and always cut on cutting boards.
